Completing Your Background Check

The Sponsor Circle Program is committed to ensuring the safety of its volunteers and the individuals it serves. Every member of your sponsor circle must complete the required background check through Sterling Volunteers.

Each group member must create their own account with Sterling Volunteers. If you submit your background check under someone else’s account, you will be asked to complete an additional background check.

The information entered for each group member should be the same on both the application and the background check. Use this link or enter GOOD DEED code cshub1r to link your background check to the Sponsor Circle Program.

Background check essentials

  1. Use your current legal name. When completing the background check, enter your current legal name as it appears on your government-issued ID.

  2. Ensure consistency with application. The information you provide on your background check, including your current legal name, must match the information submitted on your group’s application. Nicknames or shortened names are not accepted and could cause delays in processing your application.

  3. Ensure your background check is connected to the Sponsor Circle Program. When you initiate your background check by clicking the “Begin Background Check” button above, your background check will automatically be connected to the Sponsor Circle Program. If you initiate a background check separately, you will be prompted to enter a GOOD DEED code upon account creation. Use the code cshub1r to connect the background check to your Sponsor Circle Application.

  4. If you already completed a background check and need to connect it to Sponsor Circle Program, follow the steps in this guide, or contact Sterling Volunteers at 855-326-1860 or by email at client.support@sterlingcheck.com. Be ready to provide the last 4 digits of the Social Security Number and the Date of Birth to verify the account. The individual sponsor circle member should call or email Sterling themselves when inquiring about their background check.
