Uniting for Ukraine

The U.S. government has announced that people fleeing the war in Ukraine can apply to come to the U.S. on a temporary basis known as humanitarian parole, with the support of a sponsor in the United States. Through this program, the sponsor submits a Declaration of Financial Support, indicating that they will receive, support, and maintain the individuals named on the application.

While only one person is required to sign the declaration, we believe that sponsorship is most successful when groups of individuals – friends, colleagues, neighbors, faith community members – come together to pool their resources and welcome, assisting the newcomer in navigating their new community and accessing available services and supports.
